we didn't have great plans for today . we didn't plan for today to be a day that all of us will remember for months, if not longer -- but that's how it ended up . it was perfect .
we were up early again this morning . mom figured that if we made it to the lake before the sun & the crowds then it might be a little bit more relaxing [ and cooler! ] . and she was right ! we got to maroon bells around 10 and spent the rest of the morning exploring, hiking, sitting by the lake and reading, and talking with fishermen .
we ate lunch at the best cafe in aspen . i got eggs benedict with avocado, bacon, and tomato . it was delicious . [ we also got brownies to go, which made that long car ride so much better .]
after leaving aspen we drove up independence pass . there was a ton of snow, which made everything bright, white, and chilly . after driving the scenic way for a while we came back to two large pizzas & family game night . i love that my family can take a normal day with no plans & turn it into the best day ever . they're the greatest .
