Weekend Things / 1 /

at camp, we saved suggestions for future weeks until the weekend . on saturdays we would meet and share ways to make camp better & more Christ-centered . we called them weekend things . so now that i'm back at home, i'm here to share my weekend things : looking back and giving thanks for what God did this past week & refocusing on how to grow and dig deeper this next week .

highlights of this week >> i bought a fish, worked 40 hours at the preschool, moved back to school, fiiiiinally got to see long lost friends, read through my journal from this summer, went downtown greenville to buy fresh foods for dorm life . it was a good week .

"so we do not lose heart . though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day . for this light momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison . . . for the love of Christ controls [ compels ] us, because we have concluded this : that one has died for all, and therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised ." [ 2 corinthians 4 & 5 ]

this past week, i was confronted by my failures . i read through my summer journal & saw the many ways that i failed . there are so many ways, day after day . but i also read my journal and see the grace -- the good things that Christ lavished on me even though i failed him consistently . i'm still struggling through & processing everything that happened this summer, but i am also confident that He who began a good work will finish it . Jesus won't leave me where i'm at, ever . and for that i'm infinitely thankful . [ & so looking forward to an eternity to tell him thank you !] he has given me himself, which is the greatest gift i could ever ask for . so this next week, a week of transition and new beginnings, i'm choosing to make the most of the opportunities i have . it's going to be a busy week of new things . but i'm so ready . ready for a new semester, new friendships, new chances to serve the people around me .
